Location: Sydenham Girls School
Date: 4th July 2009 7.00pm
Tickets: £9 & £7 concessions

Sydenham Arts Festival proudly welcomes the wonderful John Hegley and his talented friends, celebrated local writers Chrissie Gittins and Ronnie McGrath, hosted by Festival Poet in Residence Gale Burns.

"Lean, besuited and bespectacled, the wry wordsmith [John Hegley] is on the road again, with a show that reveals both his tongue and his eyes, beadily observing the world from behind those trademark glasses, to be as sharp as ever. John Hegley's latest concoction of comic poetry, stand-up, storytelling and song presents his audience with an alphabetical menagerie - an A to Z carnival of the animals, some of which turn out to be human". (The Times Review ****)

Joining him are Chrissie Gittins, who has written radio plays, short stories, children’s poetry - winning the Poetry Book Society ‘choice’ – and is about to publish her second collection of poems, I’ll Dress One Night as You (Salt), including poems inspired by Crystal Palace dinosaurs, and a painting at Dulwich Picture Gallery; and Ronnie McGrath, brought up in Jamaica, and then from age 7 in East London; a musician, a lecturer in creative writing, a 1994 ACER winning writer, a novelist, with a published chapbook and first full collection of poems coming out in September.

A family friendly event, for adults and teens.
